Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what data Shiba Stuff (“we”, “us”, “the site”) collects when you visit shibastuff.com, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what rights you have over it. If you have questions, email john@shibastuff.com.
What we collect directly
Server logs
Our web host (hosting.com) keeps standard access logs containing your IP address, the URL you requested, the time of the request, your browser’s user-agent string, and the referring URL. These logs are kept for a limited time for security and abuse-prevention purposes and are not used for advertising or profiling.
Email subscriptions
If you subscribe to the Shiba Stuff newsletter, we collect your email address (and optionally first name) and pass it directly to our email service provider — either Buttondown or ConvertKit, depending on which is currently configured. Your email address is stored on the provider’s servers, not ours, and is governed by the provider’s privacy policy in addition to this one. We use it only to send the newsletter and any associated free resources you opted in to receive. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.
Comments & forms
The site does not currently support reader comments. The only form on the site is the newsletter signup described above. If you email us directly, we keep that email in our inbox for as long as we’d normally keep correspondence; we do not add it to any list without your opt-in.
Cookies and tracking
Shiba Stuff itself does not set first-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes. The site uses a session cookie only inside the password-protected /admin area for login state, which does not apply to public visitors.
Third-party services we use may set their own cookies:
Analytics
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — if configured, GA4 uses cookies and similar identifiers to measure aggregated visit counts, pages viewed, traffic sources, and approximate location. GA4 anonymizes IP addresses by default. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Plausible Analytics — if configured, Plausible is a cookieless, EU-hosted analytics service. It does not track individual users or store personal data. Plausible’s data policy: plausible.io/data-policy.
Advertising
If and when display advertising is enabled on this site (currently via Google AdSense), advertising partners may set cookies to deliver and measure ads. Google’s ad-related policies and your opt-out controls: policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can also opt out of personalized advertising at youradchoices.com (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
Affiliate links
This site contains affiliate links to Amazon Associates and Chewy (via Impact). Clicking an affiliate link sets a cookie from the destination retailer or the affiliate network so the retailer can attribute a resulting purchase back to Shiba Stuff. Shiba Stuff itself never sees your purchase details — we only see aggregate commission data from each program. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Embedded media
Posts and gallery entries may embed YouTube videos (using youtube-nocookie.com where possible) or Vimeo videos. These embeds may set cookies when you interact with them. We do not control those cookies.
Who we share data with
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. The only third parties that receive data are the service providers listed above (web host, email provider, analytics, ad network, affiliate networks), and only to the extent needed to provide their service. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
If you’re in the EU/UK (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. Our lawful basis for processing is your consent (newsletter, optional cookies) and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (server logs). To exercise any of these rights, email john@shibastuff.com.
If you’re in California (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined under California law. To exercise your rights, email john@shibastuff.com.
Children
Shiba Stuff is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information here, contact us and we will delete it.
Data security
The site is served over HTTPS. Database access is restricted to the server itself; admin access is password-protected and CSRF-protected. No transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we use reasonable measures to protect the limited data we hold.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site’s services or applicable law change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted on the site.
